Meet Lou
Lou Puliafito embodies the resilience, work ethic, and neighbor‑first spirit that define New York. Born and raised in Yorkville—where he also raised his own family—Lou built a 25‑year career in Information Technology for Fortune 100 companies, beginning humbly in Merrill Lynch’s mailroom and rising to develop financial applications, manage enterprise‑wide systems at New York Life Insurance, and support charitable initiatives through the New York Life Foundation.
Complementing his corporate leadership, Lou also dedicated 20 years to SEIU 32BJ residential service, including eight years as a shop steward, advocating for workplace fairness, safety, and dignity. His public‑service résumé further includes serving as a Field Operations Supervisor for the 2010 U.S. Census, producing and hosting more than 200 episodes of the public‑issues program Decent Life on Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and running as a Manhattan Republican candidate.
Throughout these decades of service, Lou is a multigenerational caregiver, a 9/11 survivor, a cancer survivor, and a brother who endured the tragic loss of a sibling to AIDS. These crucible experiences have shaped his moral center and deepened his commitment to protect those whom society too often overlooks.
Following in the tradition of leaders like Senator Alfonse D’Amato, Lou’s accountability is clear: God first, the Constitution second, our families third, and only then the party. His mission is to combine industry‑tested discipline with the lived experience of someone who has worked on both sides of New York’s economy—white‑collar and blue‑collar alike.
Lou’s story resonates widely across the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island from working families and seniors to the disenfranchised, the less fortunate, and disillusioned Democrats seeking a credible alternative. That appeal was evident in his 2020 State Assembly race, where “Doorman Lou” earned 42% of the vote—the strongest performance for a Manhattan Republican candidate in 25 years. Lou garnered 25% of his votes on the third party line which means Democrats voted for Lou!
Today, Lou is focused on fairness for our seniors, children, and working families who deserve safety, affordability, and accountability from their Albany. Furthermore, Lou will work to remove the grip of the Epstein Class on our state. No one is above the law, even the Epstein Class.
Every honest, hard-working person deserves a “Decent Life”.
